The Khadayta samaj today held a meeting at ghatkopar swimming pool hall, the agenda for the meeting was to ensure that the youth in the community has access to funds and guidance for becoming productive individuals in life. it was also an in honour of late shre Vallabhdas harjivan a visionary with the foresight to start a boarding house in mangrol. the boarding house  gave access to education and employment opportunities to the members of the samaj who lived in far off villages. remember that this was 150 years ago, when the fastest transport was a bullock cart. to commemorate the occasion the members decided to celebrate this year as the year of "Kelavani" or nurturing of the youth.

the samaj has access to some funds but they are not sufficient and we need to enhance the funds by bringing in capital.

it was also discussed that subject to the approval of elders and commitee members , we may move the boarding house from mangrol to some other midsize town like ahmedabad or baroda. since education is more accessible at these places.

There has already been some commitment of funds, but more needs to be done.

Saurashtra Khadayta samaj mumbai will also be organizing a three day outing to matheran in the month of january 2010. the exact details will be known soon. however members are requested to register thier names if they are interested for initial estimates of cost. the outing is a very good way of integrating the members with each other and having stronger community bonds.
